“Them some Fightin’ Words”…Palin comes out Firing!

Published by SABAsearch under Politics

“Ooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”….that was the constant sound coming from the floor of the Republican National Convention yesterday.  Most of the hootin’ and hollerin’ was sparked by the tough words shouted by Sarah Palin about Barack Obama.

For the folks who wanted Red Meat, well, you got it.  The good ole’ dirty politics game is back in full swing.  In one corner, we have Barack Obama, and in the other corner we have Sarah Palin.

Who would’ve thought that this small town woman could come out in such a tough spotlight and deliver such a strong speech.  I, for one, was not expecting such a great showing by the governer.

With that said, I still don’t believe that this speech alone can be used as a true representation of what she is capable of doing.  She has definitely proven herself to be the bulldog that everyone expected her to be, but will she be able to withstand the live political debates?  The speech was obviously written by her political teams, and it was greatly delivered by Palin, but the big question still remains - will she be able to withstand the true Washington politics once she is out there by herself on the debate platform?  We’ll just have to wait and see.

What do you think?  Did last night’s speech convince you that Sarah Palin is ready for the VP position?  If so, why?  If not, why not?

She did do a great job on the speech. It was a little more, ok - much more, combative than I would have liked, but I think she proved her point. She wanted to show that she could throw down with the big boys, and that’s exactly what she did. I would have liked to hear her stance on more of the issues surrounding this election, but I guess McCain will be doing that tonight.

I can’t wait for the debates!

Not convincing for me. If anything, her speech yesterday was a major turn-off. Instead of going off on Obama’s “lack of experience”, she should’ve used that time to talk about real issues such as healthcare, the fact that the unemployment rate is significantly low, challenges with the housing industry, the DEFICIT, etc….all she talked about yesterday was McCain as a POW and a fighter. Yes, it is commendable that he achieved so much, but just bc you’ve served in the military doesn’t necessarily mean that you are qualified to lead an entire country. She capped on Obama so much, but she should’ve realized that Obama was the one who stood up for her when the press went wild about her 17 year old daughter being pregnant. If you can’t control your own family, how can you control an entire nation? Maybe it’s just political banter, but I think it’s still necessary to get your points across with actual substance (ie “I will reduce the deficit by X% by 2010 by doing the following….). Looking forward to McCain’s speech tonight, hopefully he’ll hit some of the major topics and recommendations for the future.
