Talk about luck…
Imagine this: You are holding the winning ticket to a $65 million lottery jackpot, and you LOSE it! This is exactly what happened to a man in New York. But luckily for him, he had a receipt from the convenience store that showed he was the winner. He had to wait one full year to see if anyone with the real ticket claimed the prize before his receipt could be used for the prize. And fortunately for him, no one found the lost ticket. Here is an excerpt from the article:
Bhattacharjee printed a receipt, handed it to Martinez and urged him to go to the Lottery office in lower Manhattan to claim his winnings as soon as possible. Martinez headed home but accidentally tossed the ticket in the trash.
I don’t know about you, but if I had a winning ticket like that, it would never leave my sight. Whether I sleep with it under my pillow or staple it to my forehead, that ticket and I would be one!
