Economic Stimulus Check Scam
There are always people out there that are ready to take advantage of any situation. As we all know, the distribution of stimulus checks has begun with some people receiving paper checks and others receiving their funds through direct deposit. There are reports that people are receiving emails and phone calls about stimulus checks and how to receive the funds faster. DO NOT CLICK ON THESE EMAILS OR GIVE ANY INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE! The IRS will not email or call you asking for any personal information. Their correspondence is usually through the mail. These scam websites look like the real IRS site, but they are not. Please be aware of these types of scams. If something is too good to be true, it usually is. Who knows what will happen if these crooks get a hold of your social security number or bank information.
