Bobby Jindal: The Barack Obama of 2012?

Louisiana Governer Bobby Jindal speaks in Washington

Could Bobby Jindal be the Barack Obama of 2012?  Political pundits are already saying so.  Bobby Jindal, governer of Lousiana, already seems to be gearing up to place a marker down for the presidential race of 2012.

Here is an excerpt from an article posted on Yahoo.com

Which young, thin, non-white, Ivy League-educated politician who has a foreign-sounding name and prominent ears is changing the face of politics as we know it?

Oh … and whose name is not Barack Obama?

Whuh?

That’s right, the president-elect may hold a monopoly on current buzz, but some in the GOP are looking to their own whiz kid to lead them out of the proverbial wilderness the Democrats have just left behind.

His name is Bobby Jindal, and he’s the 37-year-old Indian American governor of Louisiana.

Right now, for most people, handicapping 2012 probably feels like re-watching the previews right after sitting through a 7-hour movie. Yet some Republicans looking to resurrect their party from the ashes of Tuesday’s electoral conflagaration are already turning to the conservative Jindal, at least at the search box.

Jindal’s name has surged 350% in searches this week, tied with Mitt Romney and second only to Sarah Palin in 2012-related political queries. Buzz patrons are also reading up on the rising star in a bevy of speculative articles about the future of the GOP.

Is Bobby Jindal going to serve as the Barack Obama for the South Asian community in the US for 2012?  As a South Asian, what are your thoughts on Bobby Jindal?

I hope people are researching what this guy is about before promoting him simply because he’s Indian.

He’s no Barack Obama….Bobby actually has experience & plenty of accomplishments…and his views are much more reasonable.

If he’ll pay my bills like Barak promises to do… I’m in! Jindal 2012!

Chuck is right. Jindal is a much better pick with far better capabilities. Get ready for 4 years of socialism with our friend Barack.

I am a South Asian and am glad to see Jindal rising in the political arena. However, that is not why I support him. I support him because of his political views and accomplishments thus far. Definitely a rising star within the GOP.

Sheena is right. Everyone should research their politicians’ credentials, not their ethnicities.

@Sulin: What do you think these Bush administration bailouts are, if not socialism? The republicans are just as guilty as the democrats for expanding the federal govt and taking ownership of our lives.

bobby jindal is definitely the new ronald reagan and may be better though!
    He’s smart,conservative and he’s pretty young.
Something between JFK and Obama for the hope,Eagan for the ideas …

Just imagine Jindal/Giliani against a obama who could look like carter!

I don’t think race could be a problem he can be the nominee.
If he won louisiana in a landslide,if he’s so popular in a southern state,he can win ohioa and usa.

Apparently Jindal believes Louisiana’s classrooms should bring the religion-influenced concept of intelligent design into teachings of science. This debate should stay out of the classroom until alternatives to current scientific teachings offer real evidence rather than sensationalizing tiny holes in the theories. Religion has no place in my future children’s science classrooms.

It is absolutely ridiculous that a person holding a Biology degree could marginalize what he spent 4 years of his life studying. Jindal needs to learn to think for himself rather than the backwooded Christian “right” of Louisiana before earning my vote.
