There was a period of time last year that it rained everyday for 2 - 3 weeks. I talked to an exterminator and they said because of all the water, the ants were trying to get to higher ground, which just happened to be my house. I was able to have them do a one time treatment and that got rid of the ants. There are other pest control places that make you sign a contract and they come out several times a year...I stayed away from that and found a place that would do a one time treatment, which worked for me.
