$200 Samosas?
We all know that desi people make good business owners, right? They definitely know how to get a good deal and how to make a good deal….for themselves that is
.
A story came out recently about a shop owner in India that sells samosas. A Dutch couple touring India stopped by this owner’s shop and had some samosas. When asked how much the samosas cost, the shop owner boldly responded with “10,000 rupees” (around $204!), saying that they were made with “special herbs and aphrodisiac qualities”. The shocked couple argued with the shop owner but reluctantly ended up paying him. They later ran into a policeman and shared their unbelievable story. The policeman took them back to the samosa shop and forced the owner to return to them their change of 9,900 rupees. Talk about price gouging.
So what is the moral of the story? Don’t eat samosas before asking what the price is
(what did you think I was going to say, don’t trust Indian business owners?)
